Kalkan ‘Local’ Beach

Awarded blue flag for cleanliness, this pebble beach is found at the end of the charming harbour walk-way. This beach boasts a picturesque view of the islands and Kalkan’s main bay and close by there are many restaurants, ice cream vendors, bars and a tea garden frequented by locals so you will find plenty of places to be refreshed. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to hire at this beach. Visitors are advised to bring beach shoes for swimming as entering the water with the pebble shore can be a challenge without them. The waters here are perfect for cooling off as there are natural mineral springs under the waters close to the beach

Kaputaş Beach

This breathtaking beach is becoming one of the most photographed beaches in Turkey due to it’s azure waters and golden sands. Kaputaş beach is found at the base of a towering canyon on the D400 road btween Kalkan and Kaş and has an unspoiled view of the turquoise mediterranean sea. The beach is accessed down a long flight of 170 steps and there are toilets, changing rooms and a sheltered cafeteria serving cold drinks and lunch snacks. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available to hire and these facilities are available throughout the summer season. Kaputaş beach is approximately a ten minute drive from Kalkan and parking is available on the main road above the beach. Arriving early is advised as spaces are limited. Alternatively guests can use local taxi services or there is a local bus service which runs frequently between Kalkan and Kaş which guests can use to reach Kaputaş.

Patara Beach

Patara beach is an 18 km long stretch of unspoiled golden sand found beyond the ruins of an ancient Lycian city. The beach is part of a protected national park partly because of it’s historical siginificance but also because it is the egg laying ground for the resident loggerhead turtles which are a protected species who have been laying eggs at Patara for a staggering 40 million years. There is a fee for entering the beach due to it’s national park status and guests can also explore the ruins before continuing to the beach itself. Umbrellas and sunbeds are also available to hire and there are shower and toilet cabins as well as one beach hut which serves drinks, food and ice creams. Patara is approximately a 15 minute drive from Kalkan, parking space is available for guests with a car or guests can use the local bus service ot taxis. Patara is worthy of at least one day of your holiday with it’s stunning natural beauty, clean waters and intriguing history.
