Kalkan is a sophisticated, beautiful harbour town..
Temperature 29 ℃
The historic town of Kalkan is quietly sophisticated and postcard pretty with a few good quality low-rise hotels and a multitude of excellent roof-top restaurants offering all manner of culinary delights, together with a good selection of of stylish and atmospheric blues and jazz bars.
The village shops stay open until around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewellery, carpets and clothing. The narrow streets of the old town are lined with whitewashed shuttered buildings festooned with brightly coloured bouganvillea intermingled with shops and terrace-topped restaurants. These streets twist down to the harbour, which is the focus of the village and here you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by.
The beautiful and historical town of Fethiye is located in an exceptionally attractive setting and is perfect for a holiday on Turkey's Mediterranean coast.
The town overlooks Fethiye Bay from the hillside of Mount Mendos. The bay is dotted with twelve small islands that can be explored by boat trip from the enchanting Fethiye Marina. The excursions are easily booked and have stops for sunbathing and swimming. Souvenir shops can be found all through the cobbled streets of old Fethiye town and the harbour area is packed with excellent restaurants. The nightlife in Fethiye revolves around its numerous bars and restaurants, which provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Explore the bay and beautiful Blue Lagoon (Oludeniz) where the calm, crystal clear water is ideal for swimming and other water sports. The Blue Lagoon is one of the best places in the world to do absolutely nothing but soak up the sun amid stunning natural surroundings.
So beautiful is the Karmylassos (Kayakoy), so rich the soil, so tranquil the air and so slow the pace of traditional rural life, that, it is hard to believe the bustling Fethiye and famous Olu Deniz beach are only a short drive away. The dreamlike beauty of Kaya Valley is magnified by the evocative ruins of the abandoned Greek village of the same name.
Kayakoy ghost village lies a short distance from the bustling and popular resorts of Fethiye and Olu Deniz. It is deserted, it is lifeless, the houses are crumbling and the streets are empty.
Kayakoy is renowned for its antiquities and landmarks, so much so it holds UNESCO World Heritage status. Scattered around this awe-inspiring landscape, you will find some of the countries prettier villas
