Beaches

The most popular beach belongs to D-Resort Gocek, and can be used paying a daily fee. Within 10 minutes' drive is Inlice beach and the main island beach can be reached by water taxi from Gocek harbour. Several other beaches can be easily reached by car, such as the long sandy beach of Sarigerme, Izluzu beach, and east of Gocek, around 40 minutes' drive away is Oludeniz beach, arguably Turkey's finest.

Inlice Beach

Inlice Beach is an 800m long stretch of dark sand, around 10-minutes drive from Gocek and is run by the municipality of Göcek.  The beach offers safe swimming and the water is usually calm but can get wavy during windy weather. A café on the beach operated by the Göcek Municipality offers reasonably priced drinks and refreshments.  There is an official car park, shower and WC facilities, changing cubicles and sun beds & parasols for hire. 

If you have a hire car, drive along the Fethiye Road for approx 4.5 km and take the right hand turning just before the dual carriageway begins. During the daytime Inlice beach can also be reached by dolmus, the pickup point is outside the front of the Municipality building in Göcek and the last bus returns at 6pm.

Katranci Bay

Katranci Bay, hidden behind red pine, eucalyptus and acacia trees is situated 18 km from Göcek on the Göcek-Fethiye road. The village is a vision of blue and green, shaded by pine trees extending as far as the shore, and has a relaxation area offering facilities such as showers, toilets, and a car park. For those wishing to explore further there is a path along the sea-side and over the hill to another quiet bay named Kizlar.  This cove is surrounded by pine trees on three sides and at the top of the hill you will find a popular restaurant and bar that offers a beautiful view.

Göcek Island Beach

The main island beach is reachable by water taxi from the marina within around 15 minutes. The water taxi service is available once every hour and leaves from the pontoon next to the Marina Office. The beach is enclosed on both side by pine covered slopes, take a swim in the crystal clear waters or relax under the pine trees. There is a cafe, bar, changing area, showers, toilet facilities, sun loungers and parasols for hire.

Once on the island set up a tab at the bar, by giving the team your name, and they will note your boat fare, sun lounger rental and any drinks and food against your name which you can settle before leaving. The last boat returns around 6pm.

D Resort Göcek

Formerly the Swissotel which under new ownership was renovated to become the upmarket D-resort. The private beach here has light sand imported from the Sahara and is owned by the hotel. Visitors can use the beach by paying a daily fee or taking out a seasonal membership. The price includes sunbed and parasol hire and a discount off your lunch.

Ölüdeniz Beach

Ölüdeniz (8.5 km south of Fethiye) is home to arguably Turkey’s most beautifully situated beaches. There are two main beaches in Ölüdeniz, the first is Belceğiz beach the local beach of Oludeniz. Entrance to this beach is free but you pay for your sunbeds and umbrellas. Here the sea can soemtimes be wavey but is always clear and clean. Visitors can watch paragliders landing on this beach, or hire canoes in the sea. This is also the beach where the boat trips depart from.

The second beach to mention is Blue Lagoon beach  (Kumburnu). This beach is incredibly beautiful and is located within the boundaries of a national park so a fee is charged for entrance. Here the sea is very shallow and calm so it is ideal for children. There are restaurants and bars on the beach where you can have your lunch.

İztuzu Beach

İztuzu Beach is a 4.5 km long golden sandy beach near Dalyan and can be reached via the D400 in around 50 minutes by car from Gocek. Considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean coastline. This sand bar that separates the sea from the mouth of the Dalyan Creek is an excellent swimming beach.

Iztuzu Beach (sometimes referred to as "Turtle Beach") is one of the last nesting grounds for the endangered Loggerhead Turtles and has been given protected status since 1988. For this reason it is closed to the public during the night between 8pm and 8am. There are toilet and shower facilities and three low-key beach shacks, selling snacks and drinks.  Down on the sand, wicker parasols and sun loungers are available for hire.
