Ortaca is the name of a town and district in Mugla province, its name meaning "the town in the middle." It comprises the holiday resort towns of Dalyan and Sarigerme, both within easy driving distance of Dalaman Airport, unlike Marmaris and Fethiye (which are both at least a 1 hour drive away). Neither Dalyan nor Sarigerme are as built-up as Marmaris which is why they attract tourists looking for a more relaxed holiday atmosphere. Dalyan is a town on the Dalyan River, just inland from Turkey's southwest coast. Across the river from town is the ancient ruined city of Kaunos, with Lycian rock tombs and the remains of a theater. Riverboats connect Dalyan with İztuzu Beach to the south, home to protected loggerhead turtle nesting grounds. To the northwest on the shore of Lake Köyceğiz is the village of Sultaniye, known for its thermal mud baths.
